Why Krav Maga

for self-defence?

Krav Maga is a practical, fast-to-learn self-defence system that equips you with the necessary tools to survive violent assaults.

Rather than memorizing techniques, you learn self-defence principles that enable you to adapt to dynamic real-life situations.

Through our guidance, repetition, and scenario practicing, we build on your instinct natural defence techniques that will help keep you safe.

Fast to learn

Krav Maga is not a martial art; it's a self-defence system. The purpose is to help you end a crisis situation as fast as possible. This means we practice techniques that are designed to end a fight quickly.

In our sessions, we simulate real-life scenarios like street aggression, knife threats, grabbing, choking, kidnapping, and other situations that (unfortunately) are common in urban environments.

Through practice, you will learn how to best respond in various situations and how to leverage your natural inhibitions to actions that might save your life.

Fit for real life

  • How does Krav Maga differ from Martial Arts?
This is difficult to answer considering the diverse range of martial arts. In brief, we keep the “martial” and take out the “art.” Krav Maga has only one concern: to teach you how to survive violence in any way possible. Some martial arts do not address random attacks, modern weapons, and multiple opponents. We strive to prepare you for real-life situations.
  • What do I wear to class?
At first, you only need comfortable pants, a t-shirt and indoor shoes (runners). During your second month, you will need black pants (any kind) and a might want to consider a TKMA-shirt. Shirts can be ordered from your instructor.
  • How long before I become proficient in Krav Maga?
Our techniques are simple and based on natural reactions so students learn how to defend themselves in a relatively short period of time. Of course, your progress mainly depends on you. (i.e. how many classes you attend)
  • Will I need equipment?
Yes, groin protection (i.e. athletic support/cup) and indoor running shoes are required from the start. As you progress, you will need shin guards.
  • I have no experience in any fighting system and am out of shape. Is this okay?
No experience is required. Also, you will get in shape progressively in the class. You are free to push yourself as much as you want; people work according to their own limits.
  • Is Krav Maga suitable for women?
Yes. Krav Maga train women how to survive assaults by bigger and stronger opponents. We also teach rape prevention and anti-abduction techniques.
  • How does Krav Maga differ from MMA (Mixed Martial Arts)?
Mixed Martial Artists are among the most skilled fighters in the world. The main distinction is that these fighters are in a relatively controlled environment where they fight: against one opponent according to specific rules with a referee until the referee decides one fighter is seriously hurt controlled spaces (cage or ring) Krav Maga, on the other hand, prepares you for situations where there are no rules or standard environments (no referees, multiple attackers, weapons, in any setting).
